Shanon Cox, MA, LMHC, is a licensed mental health counselor who specializes in working with children, adolescents, parents, and young adults. Shanon is experienced in helping those she works with through life transitions like moving, changing schools, and changes in family situation such as separation/divorce and new siblings. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of trauma, anxiety, and phobias, as well as techniques and skill building for parenting, problem solving, behavior problems, and school related stress.
Shanon strives to build a positive trusting relationship with each client to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for collaborative therapy. By looking at each client’s individual situation holistically and seeing the client as the expert in their lives, Shanon capitalizes on the client’s existing strengths to work towards their goals. She challenges clients, working with them to build skills and tools to approach situations in a solution-focused way. Shanon hopes that upon completion of therapy the client will feel empowered to use the skills that they have learned to navigate future situations.
Shanon Cox received her Master of Arts in Child and Adolescent Psychology from the University of Washington. She received clinical training at Compass Health Child and Family Clinic, working with children, adolescents, and families on a wide variety of mental health concerns using evidence based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with both an anxiety and trauma focus, as well as mindfulness and skill building.
