LMFTA – Clinical Associate
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate
Ciera Coyan is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who works with adolescents, adults, and relationship structures of all kinds. Her areas of expertise include sex therapy, religious trauma, gender identity, sexuality, ENM and polyamorous relationship structures, kink, and body image. Ciera primarily, but not exclusively, works with cisgender women, transgender women, femme-identified people, enbys, and queer folx of all stripes. Ciera particularly enjoys working with queer clients who come from fundamentalist religious backgrounds and are trying to heal in order to reclaim their sexual identity, self-worth, and spirituality.
Ciera’s perspective as a clinician and individual is deeply rooted in intersectional feminism and queer theory. In her clinical work, she uses a collaborative and integrative approach, based on the needs of each individual client and relationship. She believes that all of us at our core are fundamentally worthy and deserving of love, acceptance, and care. Thus, she always operates from a place of encouraging self-acceptance and empowerment. Ciera believes that the systems we are a part of, whether they be our personal relationships or larger societal structures, impact us deeply. Her approach often utilizes general systems theory, an internalized oppression model, and existential therapy. Ciera received her Masters in Couple and Family Therapy as well as a certificate in sex therapy from Antioch University Seattle. She completed her BA in Women and Gender Studies with a concentration in Sexuality from Hunter College, CUNY.
