LMHCA – Clinical Associate
Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate
Carla Preiss, MA, LMHCA, is a licensed mental health counselor associate who provides individual therapy for adults. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, sexual and gender identity, eco-anxiety/grief, life transitions, as well as career and relationship struggles.
Carla works from an intersectional and holistic lens that considers the whole person and their lived experience in today’s world. Her approach to therapy is client-centered, affirming, collaborative, trauma-informed, and culturally humble. She makes it her priority to engage in ongoing self-reflection and learning, and frequently elicits client feedback in order to foster a therapeutic relationship that is safe and trustworthy, as she believes that this is a necessary prerequisite for authentic self-expression, exploration, healing, and growth. In the session, she draws from a variety of evidence-based practices in order to meet you where you’re at from a place of compassion, curiosity, and non-judgment, and to support you as you discover how you can move forward in a way that honors you, and your future.
Carla holds a Masters’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Bastyr University, Seattle, and earned her BA in Ecopsychology & Equine-Guided Education and Therapy from Fairhaven College at Western Washington University. Over the past eight years, she has gained experience in a variety of different treatment settings as both a therapist and an equine-assisted coach, working with youth and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and substance use. She has completed additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Trauma Therapy, and Equity Skills for Clinicians.
