PsyD – Clinical Lead
Licensed Psychologist
Auston Ellis, PsyD, is a licensed psychologist who enjoys working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. He prefers taking an evidenced-based, integrative approach to therapy that focuses on the strengths of an individual, couple or family as the foundation for growth. Dr. Ellis views psychotherapy as a deeply enriching collaboration between the client and the therapist that aims to build on the client’s goals. One of the most challenging steps many client’s face is the uncertainty of therapy. Dr. Ellis focuses on developing an environment based on safety, trust and respect to work towards every issue a person is encountering, big and small. He tries to provide ongoing education to help the client’s better understand the internal stressors (what’s happening inside the brain and body) and external stressors (what’s happening in the environment, relationships, home life, etc.) that contribute to struggles while using various modalities to help relieve their current stress (i.e., motivational interviewing, CBT, DBT and Mindfulness based approaches to help integrate the mind and the body). He is passionate about helping everyone who walks through his door reach their therapeutic goals through collaboration and communication.
Dr. Ellis completed his PsyD at Northwest University and interned at Fairfax Hospital in Kirkland, WA where he worked extensively with co-occurring diagnoses that included active suicidality, depression, anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Eating Disorders and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, among others. Prior to his internship, he spent several years working in various aspects of the mental health field including working for a pilot program in Anchorage, AK that focused on behavioral and emotional modification for toddlers and young children who had experienced various traumas and neglect; working in an outpatient setting at NUhope Community Counseling in Kirkland, WA where he regularly worked with complex trauma, mood disorders and body image/eating disorders; and spent several years working at Navos Inpatient Hospital in West Seattle, WA.
